may be aware that the Museum of Science Industry in Manchester and
the Manchester Science Festival are running what they are calling
‘the experiment of the year’ aimed at encouraging schools,
community groups and workplaces to grow sunflowers and then explore
the mathematical questions that Turing grappled with as part of his
work on patterns and coding. See:

website offers growing tips, but is also going to create an online
community for those engaged with the project. We thought you might be
