Volunteers from Shropshire Master Composters attended the annual SOGS potato day at Nescliffe Village Hall near Shrewsbury this February.
It was a case of one potato, two potato, three potato, four...and many, many more!
In fact there were over 50 varieties for sale at the SOGS Potato Day.
Entrance & parking as ever is free. The whole event just seeks to celebrate the humble spud and get more and more people in Shropshire to grow their own. Refreshments including potato cake, jacket potatoes, crisps, chips, potato salad and more were also on sale.
And of course, as ever, we took the chance to remind people that they need to compost more and waste less and that discount compost bins are available in Shropshire from our partners at www.shropshire.getcomposting.com
This is the newsletter of the Shropshire Master Composters. We are a group of volunteers who live around Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin and we help to educate people about home composting and reducing waste.

Whitchurch Blackberry Fayre
MCs attended the very first Blackberry Fair in a
cold, draughty Market Hall in Whitchurch.
Barbara, Malc & Rob manned the display while
Linda had the strange experience of speaking to
the whole hall via a microphone while the
‘audience’ continued their buying, selling,
chatting (most disconcerting!) however the
organisers were happy & Anne Nagle (Trevor
Bell’s WRAP colleague from Staffordshire who
was manning the ‘lovefoodhatewaste’ display)
was impressed. New MC Lyn Hall came along to
lend her support & MCs who have trained since
the event introduced themselves. Hopefully,
some Whitchurch area MCs who will be able to
do this event in 2009 to save on transport costs.
